Brain injury 101: And Considerations for Providing Therapeutic Recreation Services

Course Description:

This course will educate the CTRS on the characteristics, prevalence and best assessment and treatment methods for working with people with mild to severe traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injuries, and stroke. The learner will need to pass a quiz to test competency with at least a 70% in order to receive credit.
Course Objectives:

1.The CTRS will be able to define the difference between traumatic
brain injury, acquired brain injury, and stroke.

2.The CTRS will be introduced to the Glascow Coma Scale and Los
Ranchos Amigos Scale and learn how to develop assessment information
based on its findings.

3.The CTRS will examine a case study and recognize the importance of
flexibility with the inconsistencies and fluctuations of a patients
ability and how to treat them.
